Meet Our Instructor

Our founder and instructor, Lameez, holds a BEd in Foundation Phase Education and a BEd Honours in Learner Development & Democracy. She is also an internationally trained Pilates instructor through STOTT PILATES and BASI Pilates.

She created Pilates Playground to bring together her understanding of how children learn and her passion for movement. Through playful, thoughtfully planned classes, she creates an encouraging space where children can explore their abilities, discover the joy of movement and grow in confidence, at their own pace.

Questions parents and schools ask

What is children’s Pilates?

Mat Pilates adapted for children aged 4–12. Classes mix age-appropriate Pilates exercises with imaginative themes, movement games and simple breathing activities, so children build strength, balance and body awareness while they play.

Does my child need any experience?

No. Beginners are welcome, and every child works at their own pace. Effort and individual progress are what we celebrate.

Is it for boys and girls?

Yes. All genders are welcome, and the classes are non-competitive.

How does it complement sport?

Pilates builds balance, coordination and controlled movement, which support activities such as soccer, rugby, swimming, tennis and dance. It sits alongside the sport your child already does rather than replacing it.

How long are classes?

One class per week during the school term, approximately 30–40 minutes. Children are grouped by age.

What does it cost?

R1,100 per child per term.
